The urge to work creatively was part of Tegeler's life from an early age. Thanks to his craftsmanship, a consistent body of work has emerged since the beginning of the millennium, consisting primarily of sculptures made of wire, papier-machee, and fiber-reinforced plastic, along with a few wooden sculptures.
His works have since been shown in several solo and collective exhibitions. Since 2014, Tegeler has been a member of the artists' house ART 15 in Schnoor, Bremen's oldest neighborhood. Somewhere in the galleries in Bremen's Schnoor, a selection of his sculptures can always be seen.
His notorious vernissages are an absolute highlight in the art and fetish scene and are celebrated as an event.

Burkhard Tegeler, born in 1964, lives and works as a freelance artist in Bremen.

How it all began ...It has always been part of Burkhard Tegeler's life to at least occasionally carve some sticks and knead animals or fantasy creatures. In his youth, model making became Tegeler's most important purpose in life for a long time. At the beginning of the millennium he turned back to figurative work. At first he made some sculptures from separately carved and sanded body parts, which he then assembled and further worked on. Finally, the finely sanded wooden figures received a varnish of about two dozen layers of varnish from spray cans.

Vakundas
This is how the "VAKUNDAS" were created, shiny black and bird-headed female figures, some of which are not much larger than Barbie dolls. However, since the potential of wood as a material is limited in terms of design and stability, he subsequently tested a completely different method for making sculptures, which evolved over the years. He proceeds as follows: First, he creates a simple wire skeleton from several pre-bent pieces of wire, which he joins together by wrapping two to four strands of floral wire around them. The resulting skeleton can then be bent into the desired position.
